This app helps you find shared scooters and bikes nearby. It does not require an account and is built to keep your personal data on your device wherever possible.

What stays on your device

The following information is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or to any third party:

• Your device's location (used to show your position on the map and to center the view when you tap the location button)
• The camera preview shown in AR mode (displayed live on screen only — it is never recorded, stored, or transmitted)
• Your language preference and filter settings (minimum battery, hidden operators, parking bay toggle)

You can clear all of this by uninstalling the app.

What is sent to our backend

Our backend provides the list of vehicles and zones shown on the map. From version 1.2 the app uses our own server, which we run at Hetzner Online; earlier versions use tlv-scooters.vercel.app, hosted by Vercel. Requests to our backend do not include your location, any device identifier, or any account information — only the app's name. As with any internet request, the server automatically logs your IP address and the time of the request for operational and security purposes; these logs are retained for a limited period and are not used to profile you.

What is sent to third parties

The app uses the following third-party services on your behalf. We do not have access to the data they receive, and their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.

• OpenStreetMap tile server (tile.openstreetmap.org) — When you view the map, your device requests map tiles for the area you are looking at. The server receives your IP address and the tile coordinates of the viewport. See the OSMF tile usage policy and the OSMF Privacy Policy.
• Nominatim search service (nominatim.openstreetmap.org) — When you use the address search box, the text you type is sent to Nominatim along with your device's language and IP address, so it can return matching places. We do not send your GPS location. See the OSMF Privacy Policy.

What we do not do

• We do not show ads.
• We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services.
• We do not use advertising identifiers.
• We do not sell or share data with data brokers.
• We do not require sign-in or collect contact details.

Permissions the app requests

• Location (fine and coarse) — used only to display your position on the map and to center the map on you. Location data is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us. You can deny or revoke this permission in your device settings; the rest of the app continues to work.
• Camera — used only for the optional AR (augmented-reality) mode, which overlays nearby scooters on a live camera view to help you spot them. The camera image is shown on screen in real time and is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere. If you deny or revoke this permission, AR mode falls back to a plain radar view and the rest of the app continues to work.
• Internet and network state — required to fetch vehicle data, map tiles, and search results.

Links to operator apps

If you tap a vehicle, the app may open a third-party operator's app (Lime, Bird, Dott) if it is installed on your device. Once you leave the Scooters app, the operator's own privacy policy applies to anything you do in their app.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Because the app does not collect personal data on our servers, there is generally no personal data for us to access, correct, or delete on your behalf. If you have any questions about your privacy under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA, email us at the address above.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date above will be updated when we do. Material changes will be reflected in a new app release.
